This painting is based on 1 John 4:7-19. We don’t have to muster up love to give to God— He loved us first. This verse is so literal and beautiful! He pours out His everlasting, pure love and we get to give it right back to Him. The love He gives isn’t some mythical mystery or abstract idea. He showed His love by dying for us. He has scars in His hands because He loves us so deeply. This is love.
